The establishment of a Yoga Home for underprivileged children recently became a reality on 1st January 2008. Situated in the idyllic town of Batu Arang, the home organises home-stay programmes to provide dormitories and systematically assist socially disadvantaged children, single parents or disabled individuals. The children are enrolled in nearby schools to obtain basic formal education while the adults are offered special skill-for-meal programmes where living skills are taught to help them become self sufficient. Yoga lessons are also routinely incorporated in their daily learning to help them gain clarity and balance mentally and emotionally. The ultimate aim is to instill confidence in them to lead a more positive role when they return to society. |
